Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for Camp? A registration form may be picked up from any of the supporting churches, downloaded here, or by calling One Way. You can also register online. Fill out the form completely, be sure to have a parent's signature, and mail the form along with the fee to the camp.

How do I know if my child is registered for a week of camp? You will receive a confirmation email if you register online, or, if you mail in your registration, you will receive a letter in the mail.

Does a week of camp fill up? God-willing, but we can always squeeze in room for one more! In the event that this does happen, we will initiate a stand-by list and make arrangements for alternate camp dates so that everyone gets to attend camp at some point!

Can a camper come to more than one week of camp? Yes, provided that they meet the age requirements for both camps.  Wed do require a separate registration form for each camping event.

Can I room with a friend? We won't guarantee that all requests can be honored, we will do our best in rooming assignments.  In order to room with a friend you must be sure that the friend is registered and the request is written on the form.

When is registration time? Registration is typically one hour before the noted camp start time unless otherwise noted.

Can I leave camp early or for an event? One Way feels that the best way for a camper to experience the full benefits of camp is to not leave during the week. However, we do understand that this is not always possible, particularly during the summer, and if a camper must leave early or for an event they must have arrangements made with the office.

Can the campers have visitors? We do our best to discourage regular visitors from stopping by during the camp week because it disrupts the week and can introduce issues of homesickness, etc. If you do come to visit during the week we ask that you call ahead and let the director know. We also ask that all visitors leave before campfire that evening unless previously arranged with the staff.

Can a camper come with a different age group other than the one they are in? Because the weeks of camp and curriculum being taught are geared specifically for the grades listed, we generally do not allow mixed ages among camp weeks unless otherwise arranged with camp staff and parents.

Can campers receive mail during camp? Yes! Please address mail in the following manner:
   Campers Name
   Camp Session Name
   c/o Camp One Way
   1654 E 2945 North Road
   Mount Auburn, IL 62547

Can campers receive email during camp? Yes! Please send any email to campmail@camponeway.org with the student's name in the subject line.  Please note that these emails will be read prior to delivery. During camping sessions, there will be a link on the main page of this site as well.

Are campers allowed to use the telephone?  Campers are not permitted to make phone calls unless it is arranged through the camp staff. Please remember to leave all camper cell phones at home before coming to camp.

What activities are included in a day of camp? At Camp One Way, campers spend their mornings attending lesson time, worship, and other planned activities. The afternoons include recreational activities such as swimming, canoeing, basketball, team building, and group recreation. The evenings include a chapel service, fun evening activities, and campfire. The campers will also enjoy three meals a day, as well as snacks a couple times a day.

What about medicine and medical needs during camp? There is no full-time nurse on staff, but there is always someone certified in CPR and lifesaving techniques by the American Red Cross on staff during a camp week.  During registration time, all medicine must be checked in with the registrar.  All medicine should be in its original container and identified as well as a written indication of frequency of use.  The medicine is then kept in the office and dispensed as needed.  One Way does keep basic over-the-counter first aid supplies on-hand including: band-aids, aspirin, Tylenol, aloe, etc.  If a camper becomes ill during the week we will call the parents to come and get the camper.

What is camp food like? Camp tries to offer a nutritious meal as well as meals that the campers will like. Breakfast might consist of eggs and biscuits, pancakes, cereal, fruit, milk, and juice. Lunch could be a sandwich: hamburgers, BBQ, chicken patties, etc. Supper is a larger meal: spaghetti, BBQ chicken, vegetables, salad, dessert, and drink. We also make peanut butter and jelly available during the meals. If a camper has food allergies, we do our best to compensate for those allergies. If there is special food involved please inform the camp in advance.

Can the camper bring food to camp? Health department regulations do not allow food to be kept in the rooms. Depending on the week, we may ask campers to provide a snack to share, which will be kept in a common area.

What do I bring to camp? Bring a Bible, paper and pencil, clothing suitable for camp, bedding, pillow, towels, wash cloths, toilet articles, bathing suit (one piece only or a t-shirt to wear over), sunscreen lotion,  camera, flashlight, insect repellent, sunscreen, and sneakers.

What is One Way's dress code policy? At Camp One Way, we desire camp to be a place free of the distractions of the world, including clothing that draws unnecessary attention to an individual. Modest clothing must be worn at all times. Clothing that advertises alcohol or tobacco products is not considered proper. If improper attire is worn the camper will be asked to change.

What am I not allowed to bring? Cell phones, music players (ipod, cd players, etc), portable gaming units (PSP, DS, etc), bare midriff or spaghetti strap tops, short shorts, low riding pants, bikinis or tankinis, tobacco products, illegal drugs, fireworks, or any sort of weapon.
